Hope Will Stay
Hope Endures
From Sabrina:
When we made Hope Has Come, we didn’t know how it would come to be such a symbol of hope personally for our family in this season. When it reflects the light, it reminds us of the beauty of hope.
There were many “We Didn’t Know” things that would happen in recent days:
We didn’t know the harsh lines that would be drawn in our world that would seek to shut us up and also make us want to scream out. In our homes, in politics, in race, etc.
We didn’t know we’d lose Jerry Johnson (Grandpa, Stepdad, Father-in-law, husband) to Covid in less than 10 days time. Covid hadn’t come as close to us before this.
We didn’t know we would quickly need to send Brian to sanitize his Mom’s house, settle affairs and move his Mom here to live with us for three months while she waits for her house to be ready.
We didn’t know we would hear a “No,” from a very much anticipated career opportunity that would help us rebuild financially.
We didn’t know we would have to be so hesitant about times with those we love, germs, and the angst about the angst of having to be so aware, so cautious.
We didn’t know or would have anticipated our world turning upside down, doing somersaults into a big belly flop, and the uncountable unknowns (and the discouragement that it brings) that continue to be added daily.
But, also…
We didn’t know we would form a business partnership with fellow passionate mosaic artists, who because of Zoom and technology, we consider great friends and have been amazed by the sincere bond of friendship from across the world.
What we DO know, and hold onto is that if there are wars in the streets and lack all around:
He is our eternal Hope.
He is NOT a man, that He should lie.
He has promised us a forever with Him.
He promises to not forsake us even when our earthly situations and circumstances beg to differ.
He has surrounded us with a shield of favor and blessing, shrouded in the form of gracious support of others just when we need it.
He has been and will be the lifter of our heads when we want to give in, when the days seem too gray and the weight on our shoulders is too much to bear.
We know that though changes are happening all around us, He hasn’t changed. His love never fails and He is our hope. Our only real hope.
He has come. He is with us. And one day, He will rescue us once and for all.
This is the Hope on which we lean and cling.
He is that Hope for each one of us. For you, for me.
We launched Hope Has Come at Christmas but will keep it out all year to remind us that we need to hold onto hope and that the hope of Jesus is available to us not just at Christmas but every single day of the year. For that truth, we are thankful.
Hope Has Come. Hope Will Stay. Hope Endures.
