Giving
I’m convinced that giving keeps our hearts free.
In a society where self is applauded and everything to satisfy my own needs comes first, our hearts get crusty and buried before we even can recognize that we take part in the burial. I’m convinced that reaching out to others and filling a need they cannot fill for themselves - when we have the capacity to do so - ignites a spark that turns into a flame, and then a full-blown uncontrollable fire of God’s love!
I know for myself, I’ve stayed too long in bitter places, lonely places, hurt places, throwing up my hands to this world. I want to retreat and give up on people, but we need each other! It is so incredibly fun to get to land smack dab in the middle of someone else’s need and be able to practically offer something that has maybe lost its value to you but be exactly the provision for them! I believe this is how God designed it to work for mankind and especially the body of Christ. He can send down miracles in cars, in food, in shelter from heaven.
Yeah, He can if He wants. But, He would rather use us. I want to be right in the middle!
For my whole life I can recount points where I’ve been the recipient of this kind of generous giving. I’ve received blessings that literally have left me without words. I’m so thankful. It’s not complicated.
We just live with an open hand.
When blessing comes to us, we then pour that blessing out on others and get to see God‘s goodness all around!
Let’s get to it!
